Benefits Information for New Staff

Introduction

The benefits presentation at New Hire Orientation   provides an overview of benefits available at Vanderbilt. Tuition benefits are covered in brief. (If needed, refer to the  HR Policies web page   for more information.)

Note: partially benefits-eligible employees will not be automatically enrolled in health plan coverage.

Benefits Enrollment

Health, dental and vision benefits for eligible staff begin on the hire date. Fully benefits-eligible employees are automatically enrolled in the Aetna Plus health plan option at the employee-only level effective on their hire date. Fully benefits eligible employees must complete their new hire enrollment within 30 days of their hire date if they want to change the health plan option. Monthly premiums are not pro-rated (the entire monthly cost is due for the month which benefits begin). To enroll, use the My VU Benefits Enrollment Tool within 30 days of your hire date:

  1. Go to My VU Benefits and log in with your VUnetID and password
  2. Click on the green  Enroll  button 
  3. Make your selections
  4. Email or print your confirmation statement and keep it for your records
