Benefits Information for New Staff

Introduction

New hires are encouraged to review information on Vanderbilt’s benefits programs online before starting work or attending orientation. Benefits will be reviewed briefly at orientation sessions and HR staff will be available to answer specific questions.  

Benefits Enrollment

Health, dental and vision benefits for staff begin on the hire date. Eligible employees are automatically enrolled in Aetna Plus at the individual tier level upon the hire date. New hires will need to complete their new hire enrollment within 30 days of their hire date to change their health plan option. Monthly premiums are not pro-rated (the entire monthly cost is due for the month which benefits begin). To enroll, new hires should use My VU Benefits within 30 days of their hire dates:

  1. Go to My VU Benefits and log in with VUnetID and ePassword
  2. Click on the green Enroll button
  3. Make selections
  4. Email or print confirmation statement and keep it for your records
