Life Insurance
MetLife administers Vanderbilt’s life insurance plan. Vanderbilt provides a Basic Life insurance policy and you may purchase Optional coverage. The Basic Life insurance policy is an amount equal to your annual base salary. Dependent coverage (spouse, $5,000; children, $2,500) is also provided. Children are eligible up to age 19, or age 23, if full-time students.
You may choose Optional coverage of 1, 2, or 3 times your annual base salary (up to an overall maximum of $500,000, or up to $1,000,000 with an approved application). For any level of Optional coverage, the staff member pays the premium, which is based on age and salary. If you select this Optional coverage while you are a new Vanderbilt employee, there is no medical review required.
