Employee Relations
The Office of Employee Relations in Human Resources provides consultation and advice to management and staff on employment issues. The employee relations role is to provide strategic consulting in all matters of performance management and development. Employee relations representatives will assist in the interpretation of policies, the investigation of policy violations and the resolution of complaints or employment disputes. Employee relations representatives consult on and facilitate performance improvement plans.
The employee relations staff is committed to contributing to a positive and productive work environment by providing services that address staff needs and foster staff satisfaction. Some of the services provided are: coordinating the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leaves of absence, assuring the adherence to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA), providing review and consistency to Vanderbilt University policies and practices and mediating conflicts. Employee relations representatives are available to communicate and educate on all policy-related matters to managers, supervisors and staff.
