The purpose of this section is to provide a general overview of the processing of Summer Faculty Pay and references for current forms and instructions.

OVERVIEW

FORM(S) and DOCUMENTS:

The Summer Faculty Pay process is used for payment of teaching or research assignments during the summer sessions (including Maymester). Special processing is required to ensure proper compliance with certain restrictions that apply to these payments. These restrictions are discussed in depth in the "Summer Employment"
section of the Financial Procedures of the Faculty Manual. The Summer Faculty Pay Form is used to process these payments and is available with the links above, or from the University Payroll Office. Summer Faculty Pay is included as a separate item on the faculty members' month-end paycheck in May, June, July, August, and/or September.

Summer faculty not currently active at Vanderbilt must be added to the Human Resource system using the standard new hire procedures (submission of a Personnel Action Form, FormAF, I-9 and Form W-4 forms) as explained in Section C, New Hires (and Rehires), using the "9920" Job Code for summer pay.

Additional instructions and a schedule of pay dates are provided to the respective Dean's offices each Spring.
