My Child Is No Longer an Eligible Dependent
Once your child turns 26, he/she is no longer eligible to be covered under the Vanderbilt University health, dental and vision plans, respectively. As such, coverage for an eligible child shall automatically end at midnight on the last day of the month in which the child turns 26. When coverage ends, the child will be afforded the opportunity to continue coverage through COBRA.
*Continued coverage beyond the age of 26 may be available if your dependent child is disabled. It is the participant’s responsibility to notify the Office of Benefits Administration at least 30 days prior to your child turning 26.
Please refer to the Health Care Summary Plan Description for full details of eligibility.
