Vanderbilt University Divisional Recognition

Vanderbilt University Divisional Awards provide divisions of the institution the opportunity to recognize and praise staff members, on a local level, who show excellence in their work and commitment to the University’s mission, values, and goals.  Divisions create their own process for submissions and presentation.  Each division can then submit their Divisional Award winners for the prestigious Commodore Award to be presented at the annual Service Award Ceremony.

Each division selects the number of award recipients and recognizes award winners as they choose prior to the University annual service award ceremony in January.

Nomination Process

We recommend nominations for the Divisional Awards be submitted to the dean of each college, or the vice chancellor or associate vice chancellor over the division and selection be conducted by those areas through a process established by the Division.  Divisional Awards should be presented prior to the annual service award ceremony by each unit.

Each Divisional Award winner can then be nominated by the Division for the Vanderbilt University Commodore Award by using the criteria and nomination form found on the Commodore Award page.  Nominations for the Vanderbilt University Commodore Award will be accepted between October 15-November 15.  The University Commodore Award winner will be recognized at the annual Service Award ceremony in January.
