Joanna Echols

Joanna Echols is Senior Director of Operational Optimization within the People, Culture, and Belonging Division at Vanderbilt University, where she strengthens day-to-day operations and elevates the overall employee experience. She works closely with partners across the university to streamline processes, improve how information flows to staff, and reduce unnecessary friction in how work gets done. In this role, Joanna helps shape and sustain key programs including New Hire Orientation, Staff Communications, Executive Orientation/Relocation, Awards and Recognition, PCB Events, and the PCB Chatbot. 

Joanna brings more than 15 years of experience in human resources and operations across higher education, healthcare, and retail. She is known for driving continuous improvement with a steady, service-first approach that helps employees feel informed, supported, and confident as systems and priorities evolve.
