Dental Plan Options

  • Delta Dental Basic

    In the Delta Dental Basic Plan, you:

    • have access to the nation’s largest dental networks
    • pay co-insurance for dental services
    • have a deductible to meet
    • have a calendar year limit that the plan will pay
    • have no orthodontia coverage
  • Delta Dental Premier

    In the Delta Dental Premier Plan, you:

    • have access to the nation’s largest dental networks
    • pay co-insurance for dental services
    • have a deductible to meet
    • have a larger calendar year limit that the plan will pay
    • have a waiting period and limitations for orthodontia

Delta Dental Network

Delta Dental offers two provider networks to keep costs as low as possible. The Delta Dental PPO network provides maximum cost savings, and the Delta Dental Premier network has more providers, but a slightly lower level of savings. Regardless of the plan you choose, you may use providers in either network to take advantage of in-network savings. Many providers are in both the PPO and Premier network, but be sure to check with your provider before services are performed to see which network they are in.

    • More than 269,000 office locations nationwide
    • Average savings of 30% of submitted fees
  • Delta Dental Premier
    • More than 339,000 office locations nationwide
    • Average Savings of 18% of submitted fees

Premiums

Premiums can be found under Quick Links on both the Staff and Faculty new hire pages. Premiums are usually noted as monthly amounts, but if you are paid weekly or biweekly, these amounts will be divided evenly between your paychecks each month. Your personal premiums will also be available in My VU Benefits when you enroll in coverage.
