Service Awards

Who: All Vanderbilt employees who have service anniversary’s starting with 5 years of service, and continuing in five-year increments (5, 10, 15, 20, 25, etc) within the current calendar year (Jan-Dec).

What: An item of their choosing from the online Service Award catalog from Awards Network. These items range from jewelry, household items, electronics, sporting goods and much more! Employees with 25 years of service have the choice between the beloved Vanderbilt Chair (rocking or caption) or the online shopping catalog.

When: Service Awards will be distributed in the fall of each year. Employees with an anniversary will receive an email from the Employee Learning & Engagement (ELE) team in September then a follow up email from our award provider (Awards Network) with ordering instructions. Employees will have at least 8 weeks to select their award, with multiple reminder emails from the ELE team and Awards Network before the selection deadline.

Where: We now use a vendor called Awards Network for our Service Award distribution. You go to the online shopping catalog, select your item(s) and it is mailed directly to the address of your choice.

Why: Service awards are offered to individuals in recognition of their dedicated and exemplary contributions to Vanderbilt University. These accolades serve as a tangible expression of gratitude for the commitment, loyalty, and outstanding service demonstrated by recipients.

Vanderbilt University’s Annual Service Award Ceremony recognizes employees who celebrated significant service milestones in 2021. Vanderbilt University honors its employees’ years of dedication and service based upon two criteria - the employee’s Eligibility status and the employee’s Service Date. Employees who celebrated their lustrum (5 years) anniversary in 2021 will be recognized. Currently Vanderbilt honors employees with recognition at 5 year increments (5, 10, 15), however, those employees celebrating 20 years and up are recognized at the Annual Service Award Ceremony. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the university will not host an in-person ceremony for the 2021 Service Awards.
