Q. What is the difference between generic and a unit/area specific key function?

A. Generic key functions apply to all jobs in the respective title across Vanderbilt University. (Generic key functions are found in the job descriptions on the JOBS website.) Unit/Area specific key functions are created by departments for specific positions. They are maintained and updated within each department.
